Who's Got the Power?
Central Idea:
Citizens can impact the formation and change of governments.
Lines of Inquiry:
*Various forms of governments
*How governments work
*Rights and responsibilities of citizens of a country
Here are some inquiries generated before our unit-
What are the various forms of government?
How old do you have to be to get involved in government?
What is the history of women in our government?
What is the form of government in the U.S. and how does it work?
What is a dictator and how do they get into power?
We are learning about the beginnings of our U.S. government from the Articles of Confederation to the Bill of Rights. Students will also learn about the 3 Branches of the government and we will enjoy a trip to the State Capitol. *Please see date below.
Students will conduct independent inquiries into various forms of governments and present their new learning to the class.
The summative task for this unit is for students to demonstrate their knowledge on an assessment.
